Hard work beats talent

April 17, 2014

These things don’t matter if you want to be successful with Apex:

  • Your connections
  • Your background
  • Your education
  • Your intelligence
  • Your failures

These things do matter:

  • Your work ethic
  • Your attitude
  • Your drive
  • Your resilience
  • Your commitment

When I was younger I had this poster on my wall. I think about it often when I’m ready to give up:

I answer literally every email I get from readers. I want each one of you to achieve your dreams!

Hi David,

I have been following your blog since quite some time and I truly want to thank you for doing this ! This blog has been so helpful and motivating , the best part being that you encourage anyone with a non technical background in giving it their best shot and you also show them on how it can be done.

So, even though there are times when I want to give up, I keep reminding myself that I just have to keep pushing myself harder because I can do it too :)

    Olive,

I believe you have what it takes to do it! Heck, you already have the hardest part of it all – the motivation!

The rest is simply a matter of time, and not even that much of it! Stick it through, then email me when you get your first job =)

For example, if you’re doing pagination like this:

Simply test the pagination by calling the “next()” method on your controller in your test class =)

You can test controllers like this:
