I know a lot of people promised me they’d do it!
Didn’t quite keep up on your promise? Don’t worry, I won’t call out your names =) Life has a way of throwing you unexpected curveballs. What matters is that from this point on, you begin taking steps closer to your goal instead of away from it.
Have a nice success story to share? Let us know in the comments! You can be an inspiration to other budding developers, even if all you did was deploy your first trigger in your production org!
Even if you didn’t quite reach your goal, I’d love to know what happened (did you run into dead ends?) so I can help make the next season more productive. Autumn is here!
Hi David,
I think I dont get positive answer from my interview. The interviewer gave me codes (6 pages of code) and asked me to tell them what those codes does. I could not answer since the codes contained apex web sever calls, bath apex …etc..
Another point, I dont have experience in Apex development..whatever they say.
However, I am happy to know my capacity and know that I am too far to become developer.
I am a bit disappointed but will focus on codes more.
Good day
Wow, 6 pages of code seems like an awful lot! Anyway, I feel that every unsuccessful interview is a learning opportunity. I love that you believe in yourself and are not giving up. Wish you the best of luck in your next one, and thanks for sharing your interview experience here.
That stuff isn’t as hard to learn as you think =) Batch Apex was the first code I ever wrote, so truly not that difficult!
Try to do some volunteer code in the meantime for a non-profit!
I will cover both web services and batches, but it will be after Dreamforce!
Still working on it David! Definitely ran out of time to get it done this summer….busy Mom homeschooling 2 boys, traveled for an entire month and my consulting work seemed to be on steroids too…. so, I’m behind… but still plugging away!
Hi David,
How to get files from document object through apex coding
I got to know about Salesforce.com through a friend who works as a Salesforce admin in England. I became interested but didn’t quite know where to begin. And then in an SFDC newsletter in May, I found you (and SFDC99) after reading about the Spring ’14 Class of MVPs. I immediately made my pledge and signed up for the challenge. Since then I have
– completed the free Udacity course on Point and Click development,
– read the first nine chapters of Head First Java,
– completed all available tutorials and quizes on SFDC99,
– completed tutorials in the Apex Workbook (Summer ’14 edition), and
– got a copy of Dan Appleman’s Advanced Apex Programming book for when I will need it (not reading it yet).
My aim is to build a career along the SFDC developer track; and the plan was to first get DEV 401 certified and then start job hunting. Since I have absolutely no SFDC industry experience I figured I would at least need a certification to back up what I have learnt so far, before applying for jobs.
I have a good coding background from my undergrad days (quite a few years ago) and have thoroughly enjoyed my SFDC learning journey so far, but here is where things are getting tricky:
– I do not exactly belong to the SFDC99 target audience – I am not a current admin (as a matter of fact I am not even working in the IT industry at all). With no actual SFDC work experience, I have limited familiarity with important admin stuff like the various standard objects, setting permissions etc.
– From what I have seen so far, DEV 401 requires a good working knowledge of the admin side of things. I need a way to make up the knowledge gap as I do not want to rely on memorizing dumps to pass the exam.
– There is only one user group in Las Vegas where I live, and it seems not be to a very active one. I have tried to join twice since May but I don’t know what is going on with that. Although I did get a mail saying my membership request had been accepted, I still cannot find any way to communicate with members of the group.
– Generally not finding much SFDC opportunities in the Vegas area so far.
– My learning momentum has slowed down in the last month or so for all of the above reasons, yet I know I cannot afford to lose steam completely as I desperately want this.
I am resolved not to let any of these challenges deter me, so I am asking for help with ideas, suggestions, anything to keep me moving forward. Given the opportunity, I am prepared to work without pay if that is what it will take to prove myself or to gain some experience.
Thanks again for providing this medium and for your selfless commitment to helping your readers. I am ever so grateful.
Thank you for your kindness. I hope I will not interrupt your sweet time with you your honey lol.
Will keep you posted.
good day
Making a move soon…..I’ll keep you posted!
Exciting stuff Jose!!! Let me know when you can!
