I know ya’ll are sick and tired of posts with actual content so here’s a post with none!
5th Place: Stack Exchange
Why this shirt is awesome: One of the most important perks of wearing a free t-shirt is that you sometimes get to represent a company that you really respect. It’s like wearing an expensive brand name piece of clothing from a classy brand like Louis Vuitton, except you got it for free! And Stack Exchange, without question, is one of the most respected names in the coding world!
About the company: Stack Exchange is the world’s most popular Q&A website for any programming related question. You’ve never coded if you haven’t used Stack Exchange before!
4th Place: Salesforce Honeycomb
Why this shirt is awesome: Official t-shirts from Salesforce are always good – they spare no expense in delivering shirts of the highest quality fabric and print. Trust me, I know my free t-shirts (and I make a lot too)! The honeycomb is no exception and it introduces the one shape that’s all the rage in the programming community: hexagons.
About the company: I’ve been working in this industry my entire career and I still don’t know who second place is in CRM! Somebody please enlighten me!!
3rd Place: DevZone “Make Your Own T-Shirt!”
Why this shirt is awesome: I waited in a huge line for this shirt, chose its size, color, and logo, then made this shirt with my own sweat and blood!! I wouldn’t do all that for any old t-shirt… actually… sadly… I’ve done a lot more for inferior t-shirts before =P This shirt rocks because it’s simple and gets the message across immediately!
About the company: The Salesforce Developer Relations team is the #1 team in all of Salesforce, no questions asked! This small group of employees do almost all of the public facing material related to Salesforce code. They are the true heroes of Dreamforce!
2nd Place: Uber
Why this shirt is awesome: I got 52 free t-shirts at Dreamforce and this is the only one in red! The color is strong, yet not overbearing. The logo is of the perfect size and shape. The company – one I’m proud to show off. And the fit and finish of the tee is second to none. When I heard Uber was giving out free t-shirts I dropped everything I was doing, dashed over to their booth, and begged them for a shirt. They gave me two!
About the company: Uber is an app that connects you with a private driver in minutes! It’s cheaper, quicker, and more convenient to use than a taxi, and it’s one of the major reasons why the taxi industry is down 65%. I personally use Uber every week and love it!
1st Place: Ionic
Why this shirt is awesome: This is the perfect free t-shirt. The logo design is simple, beautiful, and scientific. The font matches perfectly with the logo and has clean spacing and thickness. I am sure that pi, the Fibonacci sequence, and the golden ratio were used to determine the dimensions of the text. The color of the shirt is gorgeous yet unique. And the fit and fabric, oh man, I would not say no to you if you spotted me in this shirt and wanted to touch it. It feels like the 800 thread count Egyptian cotton bedsheets I just bought. I can’t think of a single negative thing to say about this shirt, and I hope I never ever stain it. The best part is Ionic didn’t even care to scan my badge or give me a demo because they have no plans to ever make a cent of revenue on their product!
About the company: Ionic is a free, MIT licensed programming framework that lets you quickly build apps that are optimized to whatever device your users are using. It’s built on AngularJS, a Google framework!
Honorable Mentions
It was too stressful to only highlight five t-shirts.
Wizeline
There’s something eerie about this t-shirt that draws me to it. The proportions of the all capitalized “WIZELINE” text intrigues me and brings me memories of something mysteriously dark yet mainstream, like the movie Mystic River. Also, it was awesome that an employee came to me and delivered it to me in person! Wizeline is a tool that connects product managers and sales reps.
Salesforce Desk.com
What could be funnier than a shirt with the word “Desk” on it! This is the only shirt that displays the brand new Salesforce logo, and this shirt comes with the signature quality that Salesforce has on all their official tees. This one nearly made it into the top five but my wife didn’t like it and she’s the boss around here. Desk.com is a customer service tool for SMBs.
WHEW! Had to get this post out of my system! Hope you’re all caught up on SFDC99 tutorials, it’s time to finish Chapter 8!
How can I get a Salesforce t-shirt , I asked one of my friend who went to DF-14, but could not get me one… :( :(
Find your local developer user group and you may get some!
Otherwise, I’ll make a post before next Dreamforce on how to get t-shirts at the event!
