David’s note: SFDC99’s first success story from India! Sunil, your story is one of my favorites because you did it through hard work and perseverance. You are a true champion!
Here goes my Story. I am not that good in English so you may find many grammatical mistakes. Forgive me for that.
I am from India. I completed my graduation in 2011 in CSE background. I did not got through any of the campus interviews conducted in my college. After 6 Months of struggle I landed into a job as a fresher. So being a fresher I did not have any chance to choose the technology for my career. So I landed into networks team. It went well initially but during the time I fed up with work and my job as it became routine work nothing much interesting.
So I was looking for a change in technology. One of my friend Suggested me SFDC has bright future and I can go for it. My main goal is to become developer and write codes in any one of technologies. So I followed my friend’s suggestion.
So I choose one institute where I can learn SFDC by paying money. I used to get up early and travel to coaching center listen for 2 hours and then travel back to office directly from there. It’s my routine for next 3 months. I never skipped a class irrespective of what the situation may be. And my friend used to guide me daily on the topics covered at coaching center.
First 2 months only Admin part was covered completely and I have learnt almost each and every topic of it. But here is the twist when the development part started. Since I have knowledge on coding part it was like I did not grasped anything in next 1 month even though I go regularly to coaching center.
So this is when my Friend suggested me about your site from where I started learning the triggers and writing queries. After going through all the chapters from your site I was bit a confident and also attended the interview recently. And biggest part of it is I cleared it.
Thanks for posting inspirational stories and motivating your readers to take up challenges and solve them.
Sunil, I’m honored to have been able to help a champion like you! You are an inspiration to ME!
Enjoy the SFDC99 t-shirt that I’ll be mailing all the way to India (even though you didn’t ask for it)!

Dear David and others,
Thanks for inspiring and guiding newbies.
I have degree in Electronics Engineering and have worked in Operation and Maintenance of Cellular Mobile networks for 10+ years. [ 24×7 Services Support]
I completed Project management professional certification form PMI
I am laid off due to Org Restructure.
I am thinking to invest in myself by learning ‘Service Cloud’ and aspire to work for companies as Project Manager to lead end-to-end , like starting from requirement gathering, solution preparation, design, implementation, go-live and hand-over to client, for projects like ‘shifting service and maintenance function to Cloud technology’.
I am self learning Salesforce Administrator module on trailhead.
I can spend to learn, Thx for suggestions.
What could be my learning curve.
Looking forward to guidance and correct my understanding / aspiration.
Thanks in anticipation. email@example.com

Every job posting is asking for at least 4 and above experience in salesforce. I don’t know what to do. Please Suggest.

I haven’t been very lucky yet. Cleared DEV401 and DEV501 MCQ about a month ago and I am yet to land a job. NYC. The three calls I received did not materialize because of sponsorship issues. Oh well…
Don’t worry Mike.. May be a very best is waiting for you than them.. Keep trying.. If you can please share any of your experience in preparing for certifications.
Sponsorship does make it more difficult however I’ve certainly seen people become sponsored as Salesforce developers!
You just need to be a bit more patient, and definitely pass your DEV 501 test ASAP!
God bless you Sunil! Well done :)
