Salesforce is the #5 fastest growing tech skill… job postings are on the rise!

November 2, 2014

Dice.com, one of the leading job postings sites in tech, just reported some great news for Salesforce professionals: Salesforce related jobs are up 43% from last year!

As someone who has been in this industry for over four years, it seems as if Salesforce has no ceiling. Every year I expect demand to level out, and every year companies seem to be hungrier and hungrier for Salesforce. The recent announcement of Salesforce Wave makes me even more optimistic about the Salesforce career path!

This is something I think about often since, perhaps like you, I’ve dedicated so much of my career to the Salesforce platform. A lot of the skills I know and teach, like Apex, are relevant only in the scope of a Salesforce implementation. Outside of Salesforce, these skills are semi-transferrable but not enough to make me feel totally comfortable if the Salesforce ship suddenly sank.

Anyway, news like this should make you feel validated that you chose the right platform!
According this this website:

“Two trends are driving demand for Salesforce, Goli says: The sprawl of cloud computing and the resulting increase of Salesforce.com implementations, and businesses’ need to foster more intimate relationships with customers and analyze the data associated with those relationships. As implementations of the CRM tool increase, companies will require tech professionals who can customize Salesforce.com as well as ensure solutions are scalable, he says.”

Some of you may be wondering about comments I’ve made in the past regarding the window of opportunity shrinking for Salesforce professionals. Despite this recent uplifting article, I do feel that Salesforce professionals aren’t the unicorns they were in the past. It’s not because demand isn’t sky high though – it’s because there’s a lot more supply out there nowadays, which translates into more competition for the job seeker!

So what are the takeaways here for you? First off, consider yourself lucky that you have the luxury of learning one of the most in demand skills of this era. Also however, know that many other people are capitalizing on this industry as well, and to stay competitive, you have to outwork and outlearn the average professional!

Long story short – you have all the cards you need to succeed, it’s just up to you to play the hand!

Thanks David, I’ve been delaying my Certification, because I though that I lost all my knowledge on the platform (I was an SF Admin and Point and Click Developer), I´m retaking my calling, I’m an expert in Sales in General, I have sold from cars to Satellite Communications Systems.
At the start of last year, I lost my company and my house, and I got into a little depression, I found motivation in my newborn son in March (I have a 3 year old Daughter), So i started learning HTML, Javascript, MySQL and other free courses, because I though that this was the way to go in order to Certified myself as a Salesforce Developer, reading you site has open my eyes and i will take the Certification Admin this weekend and if I can the Developer too!.

Thanks for sharing your experience, it has given me the motivation that i needed!

Alex

Thanks for this information. It definitely helps to know that my decision to stay on the Salesforce path was the right one. I’m only 8 months into SFDC and everyday I’m amazed at what I find it can do.
