Introducing the SFDC99 live stream event!

July 14, 2015

Take a glimpse inside the mind of a professional Salesforce developer as I code for you… live!

I’ve always wanted to start a Salesforce school / boot camp and this is the closest thing to it! I honestly haven’t been this excited about something in a long time!

Why this event is going to rock your socks off:

  • I’m going to code something 0 to 100%… LIVE!
  • Chat with me and other SFDC99 students… LIVE!
  • I’ll answer your questions as I code… LIVE!
  • Learn the tradeoffs and considerations going on in my head… LIVE!
  • I might do something really dumb and embarrassing… LIVE!

More details coming soon, stay tuned!

Why are you doing this?
People learn in different ways, and there are so many little things you’ll pick up on that I can’t show in a code snippet, post, or webinar!

How much does it cost to join this wonderful event?
The first 1,000,000 participants get to join FREE!

When will this event take place?
Time is TBD and will most likely happen soon within the next few weeks. I’m going to pick out a time that works for the majority of readers. Weekdays or weekends – let me know in the comments if you have a strong preference!

How long will this event last?
Likely 30 minutes to an hour depending on my coding speed and the number of questions that come in! I will not be rehearsing beforehand as I’d like this to be a simulation of a real coding scenario!

Will you be doing more of these in the future?
If I don’t sufficiently embarrass myself and a decent amount of people join, then yes! I’d love to start a series!

What will you be coding?
I have no idea but I’d like to start with something of intermediate complexity! I’d love to one day take prompts from viewers… LIVE!

Will the event be recorded?
I’ll do my best!

Update: here’s the event recording and recap!

David

      No peeking!

I want to see how well you think on your toes!

Actually Here’s one example. A trigger/class that will create a task for a user every time an Opp is created and the Opp Line item is a certain type. Now, knowing that the Opp Line Items don’t exist until the Opp is created, can you find a way to rename the Line Item to something not system generated before the task is sent? I have a class that already creates the task, but it spits out the Line Item Id in the task, instead of giving it a real world name.

Oh, and no VF if possible.

This one is near and dear to me because it was my first ever real life case working in Salesforce!

      Challenge accepted?

Thanks for sending this over Gates! I’ll keep this one in my back pocket potentially for a future event!

        Hi Gates,

Can you please clarify one thing. According to my understanding, first of all an Opportunity is created, then through some trigger/manually an OpportunityLineItem is created, and thenafter a trigger on OpportunityLineItem creates a new task and populates the OpportunityLineItem’s Id in some field of the task object. At this time, we want to change the OpportunityLineItem name to some real worl name.

Please correct me if my understanding is not right.

        Thanks,
        Sugandha

Wow! David this is a great idea and will benefit so many people! The only major issue here is the timings, there is no possible way to cater for everyone’s timing needs because of the different time zones around the world. Weekends will be most peoples preferences including mine due to work commitment. Like what has already been said here, a recording will be one of the options to reach a wider audience. As for me, any time, any day, I will make time for it. If you need help in anyway, shape or form, please let me know in any capacity I can be of help, I am more than happy to be your first volunteer!
