Four reasons why you should become a Technical Architect!

April 5, 2018

Do you really need any more reasons to become a Salesforce Technical Architect?!

Most people consider Salesforce Technical Architects to be the best of the best. The cream of the crop. The pinnacle of Salesforce expertise! I personally believe it’s true.

So if your goal is to master Salesforce (it’s my goal), consider the architect journey.

Salesforce recently published a blog post that I recommend reading for extra motivation:
4 Reasons Why There’s Such a Buzz About Salesforce Architects Right Now

In summary, the reasons are:

  1. It’s HOT for your career
  2. There’s a REAL need for Salesforce Architects
  3. Architect skills greatly benefit developers
  4. You can blaze your way from other platforms

It also encourages women to pursue this journey via the Ladies Be Architects Trailblazer Community.

My favorite part of the article is it encourages everyone to take the architect journey – it doesn’t matter what background you have, what college you went to, or your GPA. If you’re willing to put in the hard work, you can become an architect too.

Check out the full article over a nice cup of coffee =)

Still not sure if the architect journey is for you?

Hello David.

Not everyone wants or has to skills to be an architect! It is a totally different skill set then an admin or dev and also requires a certain disposition that many people to not have!

cheers

I love this! Our own Jeff Powrie is quoted in the article too…I hope by the time I get to CTA the market isn’t flooded!

Couple of questions:

I studied this route, and I’m interested.

1. What does this position look like in real life? Is the industry hiring Architects and expecting Developers?
2. Do the architects work with developers, or teams thereof?
3. Is there a respect issue between Architects and Developers, in that ‘if you can’t code, I’m really going to have a problem respecting your design decisions because you can’t code?’
4. What kinds of tools do Architects use to get their designs across to Customers?
5. Does SF have a suite of those tools built into their IDE/Ecosystem?
6. The Journey seems silent on integration, and from what I’m seeing integration is important (Docusign, ERP, Marketo . . .)

Sorry for the homework assigment style comment, but inquiring minds.

I would think this job would be a blast, though managing developers can be prickly.

Check out the link at the bottom of this article, I think it’ll answer a lot of your questions =)

Pretty much every CTA I’ve met has been a SOLID developer. Really can’t think of any exceptions here!

Excellent post David! I swear you read minds :-) I’m embarking on the Architect path and actually just reviewed the certification requirements again last night. Went to sleep thinking about the Architect journey and I awake to this post…Perfect Timing!

Hi David ,
I was afraid of coding all my life until I came across your tutorial about how to write a simple trigger . I felt confident and happy when I saw a code written by me and it worked. for the first time I understood the logic behind the code. I want to thank you for the tutorial it really motivated me to do coding .
I can write decent triggers and visualforce pages now but I really want to take next step and learn Lightening development and ultimately become Technical Architect.
Can you plz guide me how to start my new journey to become a Tech Architect , can direct me on the right path and give me some tips from your experience on do’s and don’ts so that I can make optimum use of time
