FREE 15 week developer course – updated!

June 19, 2019

My 15 week Salesforce developer course is now better than ever!

This course is for people who want to learn to code but can only commit 5 – 10 hours a week. You take it online and it’s free, aside from some optional (but recommended) Apex Academy segments.

I prepare you for your first Salesforce developer job:

  • Homework each week, based on real-world scenarios
  • Extra credit challenges for the brave
  • One mini-project halfway through the course
  • A challenging final project that I’ve actually used in a real Salesforce org

By the end of this course, you’ll be ready to apply for junior Salesforce developer jobs and begin your Platform Developer I certification journey.

Access the course here: bit.ly/go-apex

I’m continuously updating and improving this course as I teach more people and learn what sticks. The goal is to make coding as accessible as possible and in a digestible time frame.

Hope you enjoy!!
David

Hey,

Thanks for the curriculum!
I am stuck on Week 6: Wrapping it all up project. Specifically:

The name of each Task should be: Verify the <> field”

Can you suggest what’s the best way of getting the key field name. I found that this can be done using getDescribe() method but it requires a map collection and concepts that were not covered yet.

Is there an easier way?

Help!

Are there answers to home work to compare or valid code. Just to make sure we are writing the code way it should be.

Hi David,
I am about to start doing your course, I am happy to pay for the Apex Academy segments , but can you tell me from what week shall I start using it?
I am really looking forward to learn and become a SF Developer.
Other question is about the Scolarship. Can you tell me a bit more about it via email? Many thanks,

What is a realistic expectation for a certified admin, certified platform app builder to study for platform I exam and really understand what they are doing?

Also looking for study recommendations other than trailhead. Currently started going through the APEX developer guide which is … wow

Really big range here. Some people brand new to Salesforce can get 10 certifications in 10 weeks, others take years to get their first admin cert.

    https://www.sfdc99.com/sfdc99-reader-success-stories/

All depends on how much you can put into it really!

My course assumes a starting point of an admin then says you can start prepping for PD1 when you’re done with it. So 15 weeks + say another few months to pass PD1.

David,

Thank you so much for your help and initiative in helping people learning salesforce. I can say, like many others that YOU ARE a contributor in helping me changing my life from a bored Salesperson to a Salesforce Administrator. True that I don’t have a full time SF job yet, but trust that I persist and network with the world and recruiters to make it happen.
I feel like I could learn APEX however the learning platform entry fees are a bit steep for me BUT i will be glad to repay once I get a gig.
Let me know if you can help! Hope to be able to meet you one day!!!
thanks

Phil

This is awesome David and perfect timing! As an admin, I love using the declarative coding tools (Flow, ProcessBuilder), but I’ve always wanted to understand more of the coding side of things. I started your Apex Academy course over a year ago and had to stop because my mentor recommended that I focus on becoming a “great admin” first. (Great advice by the way!) Now I’m ready to try again.

Thanks for everything that you do to help us Dev Newbies to learn new skills!

Hi,

I am Oscar, from Spain. I have almost three years of experience in Salesforce. But I am a functional consultant. I always wanted to know how to develop, but never know how to start. A close friend sent me this course and I would really appreciate being part of it. I have done a couple of courses in Udemy but still need some trainings and homeworks to understand all the structure.

Thank you for your time.
