HI David,
I have not seen any posts from you lately so I hope things are OK. I will transition to CPQ at my company bec of a need. I do not have a Salesforce background.
Do you have any experience or information on CPQ or EPQ?

Dear David,
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I am so happy that I came across your generosity and pieces of advice (by chance heard of your video “Why are Salesforce administrator jobs disappearing?”)

Im 53 years old… /young… ;-).
Two years ago, I began learning to code, still on it… lol… but determined to finally make it!
Last February I took 2 SF courses, and on September, I certified Admin. and Dev I. I have no experience with SF though, so right now I keep completing badges and Trails.
Could you recommend me any trainee programm? Or some internship?
(I just want to gain experience, no need to be paid for).
Thank you again and best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Aleniuk.

Hi David,

New Beginnings! I see Salesforce as a new stepping stone in my IT career and my only regret was not starting to learn Apex sooner. I see that the power of coding is endless and look forward to the opportunities that are on the way.

Appreciate the positive structure you present in your courses and blogs.

Take Care,

Hello David,

I was wondering if you need to follow the order of certification or you can pick and choose? Like do you have to be an Admin first before a developer?

    I recommend this order:

Realistically you can go in any order you prefer, as long as you meet the prereqs!

This may be a silly question but I tried to get all the stuffs in one place to be followed to learn and clear the test of certification so asked you. I googled for it and I am getting no. of links but confused to follow which one.

What’s the situation with Mavensmate since I read a blog on the site that it was closing down and no longer supported. Do we still download Sublime text and use another editor like Eclipse or do we use Froce.com?

Hello David,

I have read your blog and guidance on obtaining all the Salesforce certifications, impressive. Would like to say very impressed with your achievements.

I am a TOGAF certified Enterprise Architect, was at one time a top notch PL/SQL coder/developer, colleagues tell me I still am and my job requires me to train 5 people each year on top of doing architecture.

I have read a lot of material trying to decide which is best for me to gain the Salesforce certificates and it seems you have come out the initial winner, so well done for winning this contract!!

OK, down to the serious stuff, I am now going to devote the time and money to follow the guidance you have provided and will post my progress on this blog.

To start with I will be doing the Administrator and APEX stuff, not sure how long it will take me as variables such as family, work, eating, sleeping, travelling etc. may not allow me the time required to complete as fast as I would like or may be expected to do.

Great to have you as my teacher, looking forward to working with someone who has so much enthusiasm.

Cheers,
Yusef

Hi David,

I am trying to create a scenario where the following will take place:

from the contact, a sales development rep creates an opportunity for their account executive, (who is the owner of the contact) — and when that happens, the opportunity owner gets updated to the account executive who owns the contact that the opportunity was created from.

I believe this will require code but I am not sure how to do it since I’m not a developer…. any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve been working with salesforce for quite a while and i’m pretty good at writing triggers, but i suck at test classes. I’ve been working on and off on this wizard class and writing a test class for it. But for the love my life i just don’t get it.
Is there a way you can help me with it?

My best advice is to imagine you are testing something manually (with your mouse in Salesforce.com), then do the exact same thing using code!

If you’re still having trouble I go DEEP into test classes in the Apex Academy!

Hi David,

Could you please answer the below point

1) How to find the total size of already uploaded static resources size?

2) We are getting a error message when we upload a static resource saying that no space?

I learnt that single org can have only up to 250 MB of total static resources.

With this I ran the below query

select sum(bodylength) from static resource.–The sum is around 262 MB. I am little bit confused here? How 262 will come if onyl 250 is maximum limit.

Please advise.

Hi,

Firstly, thank you for your site, it is really helping me to understand the basics of coding within SFDC and making less of a daunting experience.

I do however have a question that I cant seem to find an answer. In the Spring 14 workflow were able to run flows which has since been removed – not sure why? My question is is simple, I have created a headless flow that I need activating which can only be done via a trigger. How do you get a trigger to run a headless flow?

Your help will very much be appreciated
